NTS announced it has connected its first fiber customer in Hammond, La. This marks the company’s fiber-to-the-premise Network (FTTP) expansion into that state.
Up to this point, the company’s fiber build out has been focused on secondary markets in Texas, where NTS currently provides fiber services in 15 towns – including a metro build that is focused on the Wichita Falls business community. At its completion, NTS’ Louisiana fiber network is anticipated to add around 11,500 passings, which will bring the company’s total FTTP passings to around 50,000. A portion of approximately $100 million in federal stimulus money is being used to fund the Louisiana network expansion.
There is excitement within the company over this newest market in Hammond, La. As NTS enters new markets, the company has typically seen strong adoption rates for its high-speed triple play offerings, as customers see the value of the company’s services – particularly its high-speed bandwidth. As consumers increasingly rely on the Internet, both in residential and business applications, the speed and accessibility of NTS’ network meets their demands.
“We look forward to bringing advanced broadband to more customers in Hammond during the coming weeks,” said NTS Chairman, President and CEO Guy Nissenson.
NTS is engaged in providing residential and business customers in Texas and southeastern Louisiana with high-speed broadband services, including Internet access, digital cable television programming and local and long distance telephone service. The company’s FTTP network offers one of the fastest available Internet connections. NTS currently has operations in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, also serving customers in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
