ChyronHego announced that the U.K.’s largest television network will be utilizing the BlueNet system to replace its current graphics infrastructure. BlueNet, which is a combination of cloud services and in-house hardware, will enable ITV News sites throughout the country to produce on-air graphics in a shorter timespan.
Chyron is focused on providing Graphics as a Service for on-air and digital video applications including newsrooms, studios, sports broadcasting facilities, and corporate video environments. The company is an Emmy-winning firm whose graphics solutions include the Axis World Graphics online content creation software and order management system, on-air graphics systems, clip servers, channel branding, and graphics asset management solutions. Hego has more than 40 years of experience in broadcast, presenting live data and video in real-time graphics, virtual graphics, touch and telestration, as well as its 3D player tracking system.
The installation of ChyronHego systems will include ChyronHego’s CAMIO Cluster, located at the ITV News Birmingham hub, for asset management, content replication, and business continuity. In addition, each regional site will be equipped with a CAMIO server that will manage local assets, a pair of LEX3-1 graphics playout devices, MicroX graphics playout systems, and ChyronHego’s MediaMaker software. MediaMaker will allow for graphics creation intended for Avid Media Composer, as well as other graphics applications.
Paul Stevenson, director of technology and technical operations at ITV News, said, “The ChyronHego solution for ITV’s regional news graphics production has enabled us to transform the way we produce quality on-screen graphics live-to-air. We have centralized our creative graphics hub, allowing our small team of skilled designers to collaborate and serve our dispersed regional news studio operations. Journalists in the regions will have a powerful set of templates giving them the capability to produce their own high-quality graphics with a fast turnaround to serve their local news programs.”
“ChyronHego is all about workflow, ease of use, and how fast graphics can be designed, updated and pushed to air,” said Michael Wellesley-Wesley, CEO of ChyronHego. “As ITV News discovered in testing BlueNet, the benefits of implementing our hybrid graphics workflow within the multisite news production model are stunning. Cloud-based centralization of graphics creation yields better access to shared assets, enhances collaboration among staff, improves interoperability with third-party systems, and enables a dramatic reduction in production time. We have been fine-tuning the news workflow for many years now, and with its launch of BlueNet, ITV News will experience first-hand the enormous power of ChyronHego solutions.”
