Karen Rohde Named as Chief Human Resources Officer of Amyris, Inc. (AMRS)

Leading renewable chemicals and fuels company Amyris recently announced that Karen D. Rohde has joined the company as its new chief human resources officer.

Rohde has a background of proven expertise aiding companies in optimizing their organization performance through effective human resources practices. She is skilled in aligning people, organization, and business strategy to create a culture that attracts, retains, develops, and rewards talent. Amyris anticipates that Rohde’s abilities will aid the company in continuing to strengthen its capability to meet the expectations of customers and investors.

Rohde previously served as senior vice president human resources for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, where she assisted in driving the company’s turnaround through building a customer-focused, high-performance culture promoting global alignment, agility, and collaboration throughout the organization, which consisted of 45,000 employees. Before that, Rohde served as senior vice president human resources and chief talent officer of Sun Microsystems. Over the course of her 13-year tenure there, she designed and implemented talent systems that were competitive and integrated, and she also supported multiple acquisitions. She started her career in finance at Mobil Oil Corporation.

Rohde received her MBA from the Haas Business School at University of California at Berkeley and earned her BA in English from the University of California at Irvine.

“Amyris is leading the way in building commercial renewable chemical and fuel production that supports a cleaner, more sustainable environment,” Rohde said. “I’m excited to be joining Amyris’ executive team and ensuring we have the organization and talent to continue to scale effectively around the world.”
