Affymetrix, Inc. (AFFX) Partners with Ingenuity Systems to Eradicate Microarray Expression Analysis Bottleneck

Affymetrix and Ingenuity Systems, a leader in providing biomedical information and analysis solutions, have announced they will co-promote Ingenuity iReport with Affymetrix expression microarray products. This will effectively eliminate a bottleneck for researchers working with human, mouse, and rat applications by combining a fast and accurate statistical analysis and biological interpretation workflow with this gold standard platform for gene expression studies.

Ingenuity iReport is an interactive, Web-based report leveraging the Ingenuity Knowledge Base of biological and chemical findings from peer-reviewed literature and databases. When combined with Ingenuity iReport, Affymetrix expression microarrays – the standard methodology used in many research and study applications – provide researchers with “a sample to insight” continuous workflow, enabling rapid, confident interpretation of results without the necessity of bioinformatics experience or support.

The University of Wisconsin’s Department of Pediatrics was able to accelerate its data interpretation several times over, as compared with using other analysis tools, by leveraging Ingenuity iReport with Affymetrix gene expression arrays in its study on a mouse model of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The rapid and effectively blind analysis offered an unbiased validation of the data, and iReport additionally allowed the department to identify and explore genes of interest found with Affymetrix gene chips that had not yet been identified by other analysis tools.
