How SEFE, Inc. (SEFE) Gets Energy from the Air

When someone first hears about SEFE’s revolutionary ability to draw clean electricity directly from the earth’s atmosphere, their first question is usually “How does it work?”

SEFE’s proprietary technology, supported by a growing number of patents and pending patents, and especially suited to remote sites not easily attached to the grid, has inspired interest from around the world. Through the use of an airborne carrier such as a high-altitude weather balloon or blimp, the SEFE system draws static electricity that is continually being formed in the earth’s atmosphere in all kinds of weather. Attached to the carrier is a thin cable connected back to a ground unit. A specially designed converter transforms the naturally occurring direct current into immediately usable alternating, enough to power entire residential neighborhoods.

The system works anywhere in the world, and is so safe and effective that it could be deployed in every backyard. The only restriction is based on FAA airspace clearances. But initially deployment is expected to be associated with commercial applications, targeting the utility/co-op sector for augmenting the industry’s electrical generation capabilities. Other targets are heavy industry requiring on-site electrical generation, such as the mining industry, rural construction, and heavy manufacturing; world relief organizations, which often distribute aid and emergency relief in very remote parts of the world lacking electricity; and the military, which needs electrical generation at forward or temporary bases.

Other forms of renewable energy collection, such as solar or wind or even hydroelectric, have significant limitations effecting their use. Wind power is limited by wind conditions, requiring large scale storage to cover times when generation is poor. Solar is limited by the sun, depending upon storage for night power or cloudy days. There can also be geographical limitations, requiring large footprint sites. The SEFE system has none of these restrictions.
