Spartan Motors, Inc. (SPAR) Subsidiary and BAF Technologies Announce Formation of Exclusive and Preferred Installer Agreement

Utilimaster Corp., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors, in conjunction with BAF Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (NASDAQ:CLNE), announced the creation of a preferred installer agreement between the two companies regarding the installation of a natural gas system on a particular Ford platform. Utilimaster and BAF will be presenting together as the 2013 NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind., March 6-8. The presentation will include a natural gas converted vehicle, which is a product of the agreement.

The agreement stipulates that Utilimaster, a leader in delivery and service vehicles, will be the exclusive and preferred installer of the BAF Compressed Natural Gas system on the Ford F-59 walk-in van stripped chassis. This solution has received certification from both the EPA and CARB.

BAF, a prominent supplier of natural gas vehicle systems in the United States and support provider for clients with alternative fuel systems, has worked closely with Utilimaster on the development of a solution designed specifically to support the delivery and service markets. This partnership significantly furthers Utilimaster’s vision of offering a complete portfolio of alternate fuel and field service solutions.

“Alliances with companies like BAF Technologies provides Utilimaster clients with a professional partnership of project management, engineering and fleet solutions while positioning Utilimaster for long term growth,” said John Forbes, President, Utilimaster Corporation. “The agreement further extends our commitment to offer green solutions that are field-proven and deliver a strong return on investment.”

Compressed Natural Gas equipped vehicles provide a 65% fuel savings while utilizing natural gas, 90% of which is produced domestically.

Utilimaster’s proprietary alternative fuels program offering assesses customer needs, determines the best solution, creates the business case, manages the deployment project plan, and supplies product training/support. Customers will also be given the option to task the Utilimaster Fleet Solutions Organization with implementing additional programs – at any location – that are proven as best practices for improved driver productivity, safety, and reduction of cost of operation.
