Chanticleer Holdings, Inc. (HOTR) is Developing a Permanent Foothold in Europe

Chanticleer Holdings, part owner of Hooters of America (HOA), the private operator and franchisor of over 412 Hooters restaurants in 28 countries, is also a developer of Hooters restaurants internationally, with rights to develop and operate Hooters restaurants in several countries.

In April, 2012, Chanticleer acquired the franchise rights to develop and operate Hooters restaurants in Hungary. The company has partnered to form Crown Restaurants to operate Hooters franchises in Europe. Under a franchise agreement, Chanticleer Holdings will own 80% of its business in Hungary with a management group owning the remaining 20%. Chanticleer Holdings plans to expand into other European markets, with the European headquarters to be based in Budapest, Hungary.

Located in the heart of Europe, balanced between the industrialized West and fast developing East, Hungary is a member of the European Union. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Europe, attracting over 10 million tourist annually. Tourist activity is focused on Budapest, with the city of nearly 2 million being the focus of the country’s highly developed transportation system. With the collapse of Soviet influence and the rise of a free economy, openings for American business, including food service, became obvious. For Chanticleer, it represents the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a nation still in transition, with a successful iconic restaurant concept. It’s the first in a planned series of steps the company is exploring in Europe.
