Ikanos Communications, Inc. (IKAN) to Showcase Newest Residential Gateway Processors and Platforms at CES 2014

Ikanos Communications, a prominent supplier of cutting-edge broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home, announced that it will use the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to unveil its most advanced processors and reference platforms to the booming residential gateway market. The demonstrations will showcase a broad range of functionalities, including media processing and distribution to portable consumer devices using a media gateway platform, as well as the latest in-home and cloud-based diagnostics and monitoring features that accompany the company’s best-in-class insight BXM software suite. Ikanos’ private suite at the Las Vegas Hotel will host the demonstrations, January 7-10.

The smart gateway has evolved into a critical enabler, specifically for managing and processing content, for the wider range of services now being offered by service providers. Ikanos has designed a platform targeted at this growing need, and will showcase its media processing and distribution capabilities at CES. This demonstration will feature an Ikanos partner media processor working in concert with an Ikanos Fusiv® gateway processor with integrated VDSL2 for a feature-rich media gateway platform supporting aggregate (combined upstream and downstream) WAN data rates peaking at over 300Mbps. A data rate of this magnitude is capable of delivering multiple streams of ultra HD-resolution video.

Further building on the leading position of the Ikanos Fusiv(R) gateway processors, Ikanos will also demonstrate its cost-optimized, turnkey home-gateway reference design based on the Fusiv(R) Vx183 processor with integrated inSIGHT BXM in-home monitoring and diagnostics. inSIGHT gives consumers and carrier personnel an intuitive user interface that enables quick, local, or remote resolution of noise interference and wiring problems such as improperly connected microfilters, wire cuts, or corroded wiring, minimizing the need for service calls or truck rolls, and resulting in lower carrier OpEx and an improved consumer Quality of Experience.

“Ikanos’ Fusiv(R) processors have been deployed by Tier One carriers worldwide,” said Omid Tahernia, president and CEO of Ikanos. “With rising service provider demand for higher performance, support for a wider range of applications, and an enhanced level of security and diagnostics capability, we believe our Fusiv(R) gateway processors are uniquely positioned to be the gateway solution of choice for service providers, as they plan their next-generation multi-service gateways.”
