Capstone Turbine announced that it had received an order for 12 microturbines from an unnamed oil and gas producer headquartered in the Southern United States. The order is for two C600 Power Packages and ten C65 microturbines, which will be utilized at four production sites.
Los Angeles based Capstone is focused on producing low-emission microturbine systems, and has shipped more than 6,500 systems. The company is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Combined Heat and Power Partnership, and is committed to improving the efficiency of the nation’s energy infrastructure and reducing emissions of pollutants. Capstone has offices worldwide in New York, Mexico City, Nottingham, Shanghai, and Singapore.
The order was secured by Capstone distributor Horizon Power Systems, and the microturbines are scheduled to be installed and commissioned later this summer where they will function as the primary power supply at each production site. The microturbines will provide green power to electrical submersible pumps, fueled by wellhead gas.
Darren Jamison, Capstone’s president and CEO, said, “The oil & gas market continues to be our fastest growing market segment worldwide and accounted for 58% of total revenue last year. Capstone is quickly becoming a preferred solution for the United States shale plays and Russian associated gas markets.”
Added Bryan Hensley, Horizon Power Systems Executive Vice President: “The customer selected Capstone microturbines because they want the high reliability and low emission benefits of our products. They need the assurance of round-the-clock power at remote wellhead sites and know that’s precisely what Capstone microturbines deliver.”
