Blue Earth, Inc. (BBLU) Subsidiary Lands 100 kW Contract with Natel Engineering in Chatsworth, CA

Blue Earth, a cleantech pioneer engaged in efficiency/renewable technologies, reported today that the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Xnergy, Inc., has signed a key contract with Chatsworth, California-based electronics/aerospace engineering firm, Natel Engineering Co, Inc., for a 100 Kilowatt commercial project encompassing solar engineering, procurement, and installation tasks.

With a sticker price of $500k, this project is another big notch on the company’s belt, alongside other Distributed Generation efforts under development by BBLU. A strong drive by commercial/industrial customers towards alternative energy technology, as well as efficiency retrofits, has placed the company in an ideal position to deliver precisely the kind of full-spectrum EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) solutions as that which attracted Natel.

Looking to generate some 167,027 kWh per year from a four hundred unit array of 240 watt Sharp high-efficiency panels, the Natel power roof system will offset roughly 3,600 tons of CO2, while shoring up operational outlays for power. Really, it’s the kind of job BBLU got into business to do, helping to reduce the environmental impact of industry while bringing serious bottom line-impacting energy efficiency savings to the customer base.

That customer base is growing by leaps and bounds by the way. As the U.S. Military gears up to meet DoD energy security/efficiency targets for the coming decades, like the 2030 end state goals of forward bases being able to operate on renewable energy and across-the-board energy optimization vectors, military contractors like Natel will see huge growth momentum.

CEO of Xnergy, D. Jason Davis, described how Natel has taken a commanding lead in this space and was clearly pleased to secure such a prime contract. This roof mount system should be operational by July this year and will be a real living testament to the EPC competencies mastered by BBLU’s subsidiary.

Xnergy has earned its reputation, with a proven track record handling EPC requirements on some 100 MW of traditional, as well as alternative energy infrastructure. At the forefront of energy efficiency EPC since its inception in 2001, Xnergy has won critical industry acclaim, being rated as the #1 Alternative Energy Provider by the San Diego Business Journal, through a sophisticated technology-neutral and very open-minded approach to devising solutions.

Xnergy is able to offer clients the full range of options when putting together an energy solution, drawing on extensive first-hand experience designing and implementing energy savings projects. From conservation and alternative generation, to infrastructural outsourcing and risk management of the supply, Xnergy has built a real name for itself in California as a company committed to helping reshape the total energy profile of a client. It is this granular, rigorous attention to the details of a given operation and the meticulous, tech-neutral approach to engineering a unique solution for the specific problems of a given project that have made Xnergy a buzzword in self-generating circles (something embraced more and more, especially in CA by companies looking to do their own on-site power and do it in an environmentally responsible fashion).

Blue Earth continues making waves in the cleantech space and this influential contract for subsidiary Xnergy goes a long ways towards ensuring the propagation of those waves as the sector really starts to heat up.
