Charm Communications, Inc. (CHRM) Names Johnny Zhu New VP

Charm Communications announced the appointment of Johnny Honggang Zhu as new vice president of the company. Zhu was promoted to his new position after performing as general manager of Charm Click. The promotion is effective immediately.

Charm is an advertising agency with a particular focus on television and the internet. The company offers creative and branding services as well as media planning and buying. Since 2003, Charm has been the top agency every year for China’s leading television network, China Central Television. The company is also capable of securing advertising inventory and other advertising rights, such as sponsorships and branded content, from premium media networks and resells to clients as part of its integrated media offerings.

In addition to his new role and duties as head of Charm Interactive’s business in northern China, Zhu will continue to lead Charm Click. Zhu became GM in 2011 upon acquiring a 60% stake in ClickPro, a performance and search engine marketing firm that Zhu founded in 2007.

He Dang, CEO of Charm, said, “Johnny’s rich digital and search engine marketing expertise has been highly regarded by the industry for years. Under his leadership, Charm Click has grown rapidly, adding new clients each quarter and winning industry awards. We are confident in his abilities to lead Charm Click and Charm Interactive in achieving our long-term business objectives. We congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion and look forward to his increased role within the agency as we continue to build out a full-service, integrated advertising platform.”
