An article that was published in the alternative energy and clean tech site Revmodo.com, titled Atmospheric Electricity: A Historical Perspective, provides a useful look back on the discovery and subsequent investigation of atmospheric electricity, an energy source that SEFE believes can provide virtually endless amounts of clean and affordable electricity to people all over the world.
SEFE has been aggressively researching the technologies needed to successfully draw usable electricity directly from the air, and has been rapidly locking up their developments with numerous patents. The company can do this because they are unique in exploring this particular field, and many of the things they are developing are one-of-a-kind. In fact, the article, which discusses history’s earliest experiments in atmospheric energy, refers to an earlier MarketWire write-up that calls SEFE “the first and only company positioned to capitalize on atmospheric energy’s potential.”
Harmony III is the name given to SEFE’s system, still under development, and the company is confident that its approach will result in a clean energy source that provides unmatched advantages. Unlike wind or solar, atmospheric energy would be available all day, every day, in any kind of weather and any location. In addition, since the up-front product is pure electricity, there is no loss involved in converting energy from one form to another. Nor does it require expansion of the power grid that is often called for with wind or solar. In addition, Harmony III does not require a large footprint, with all the associated costs and controversy, and yet it is also easily scalable.
SEFE’s CEO, Don Johnston summarized the technology’s potential well when he commented “If we’re just a little bit successful, we could have a meaningful impact on not only the United States, but the world.”
