Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) Selected for Presidential Debate Communications

Cisco Systems recently announced that partner Modcomp has been selected by Lynn University to supply communications for the final presidential debate of 2012 using Cisco equipment. The debate will be held on Lynn University campus on October 22.

Florida-based Modcomp, a wholly owned subsidiary of CSPI, is focused on providing IT solutions in Florida since 1968. The company, which has offices in the U.K. and Germany, maintains client relations with companies in such diverse industries as hospitals, universities, banks, manufacturers, and retailers.

Working with Cisco, Modcomp worked within the parameters set by the Commission on Presiential Debates (CPD), which included the stipulation that no existing equipment could be used for either voice or data infrastructures. Lynn University, which purchased the equipment for use in the debates, needed to be able to repurpose the equipment after they had concluded for use in replacing its current network infrastructure. In addition, Modcomp and Cisco designed a system that includes real-time intrusion detection and prevention, Network Access Control, self-provisioning guest portals, network monitoring and segmentation, and policy and bandwidth management and enforcement.

Victor Dellovo, president and CEO of CSPI, said, “We knew that this was more than simply assembling all the right components. We needed to create a malleable design that brought together the best-of-breed technologies in a cohesive architecture with simple and straightforward management options. Yet while management and flexibility are at the highest level of consideration for the overall project, this design had to provide a safe and highly secure operating environment for the short-term circumstances of the final presidential debate. By working with Cisco, we knew we could design solutions for the short-term that would serve Lynn University in the long term so that the school is not simply buying technology for a single-time use.”
