PURE Bioscience develops and markets technology-based non-toxic bioscience products, such as its hard surface disinfectant and food contact surface sanitizer. The company’s proprietary technology, silver dihydrogen citrate-based antimicrobials (SDC), is an antimicrobial electrolytically generated source of stabilized ionic silver. SDC is produced in varying strengths for use as an additive or a raw material that can be integrated into other products.
PURE’s SDC is 20 times faster than leading disinfectants, killing germs in 30 seconds and maintaining residual protection for 24 hours. The company’s products are effective against MRSA and VRE, and are applicable for use in restaurants, homes, medical facilities, day care facilities, and more.
PURE’s SDC multi-year shelf life dwarfs that of traditional silver-based disinfectants, which are good only generally from hours to days. And while SDC is highly effective for sanitation purposes, it is non-toxic, non-caustic, colorless, odorless, and tasteless. In fact, SDC has the lowest rating on the Environmental Protection Agency’s toxicity categorization of antimicrobial products.
In the first half of 2012, PURE worked to establish a marketing campaign to develop market awareness and visibility, and achieved more sales in the first six months than it did in the entire fiscal year 2011.
In June the company reported its third-quarter results, posting revenues of $207,000 vs. revenue of $128,000 for the third quarter of the year prior. PURE also trimmed its net loss to $0.04 per share, as compared to a net loss of $0.05 for the third quarter of 2011.
