Support.com, a prominent
supplier of cloud-based technology services and software, will be presenting a
free webcast with market research firm Parks Associates on February 20, 2014 at
11 AM PST / 2 PM EST. The presentation is titled “Supporting the Connected
Home: Preventing the Internet of Broken Things,” and will be delivered by James
Morehead, Vice President of Product Management for Support.com and Patrice
Samuels, Research Analyst for Parks Associates.
The Internet of Things (IoT)
has begun to gather significant traction in the marketplace, but significant
barriers remain before widespread adoption can occur. Specifically, the cost
and complexity of installation and substantial effort required by consumers to get
IoT devices to interconnect and work together are the primary hurdles that must
be worked through. Solution providers must guarantee simple and smooth consumer
installation and ongoing enablement experience as consumers continue to adopt
home automation and security systems, medical and energy management devices,
and an expansive portfolio of sensors that engage with the physical world to
decrease subscription churn and first 30-day returns.
The average U.S. broadband
household owns almost seven connected CE devices and this number is projected
to grow dramatically over the next few years. This webcast will provide insight
into the ways in which technical support platforms can play a key role in the
successful installation and adoption of IoT solutions while delivering superior
customer experiences.
“Consumers express interest
in the capabilities of many new connected devices and systems emerging in
broadband households; as many as 30% indicate intention to purchase some
devices,” said Patrice Samuels, Research Analyst, Parks Associates. “Solution
providers must orient consumers to these devices to encourage widespread
adoption.”
There is a variety of
quality content that will be covered in the webcast, including how the role of
product and technology support must evolve to meet the unique requirements of
connected home devices and systems. Additionally, James Morehead and Patrice
Samuels will discuss new support tools and rich data about the connected home
can reinvent interactive support, as well as how guided workflow, in-context
diagnostics, and automated solutions can drive enhanced consistency and solve
rates in today’s multidevice connected homes.
