Leading global long-range
acoustic hailing devices provider LRAD Corporation announced it has received a
$763,000 follow-on order for LRAD devices and accessories. The devices will be
used in bird mitigation and wildlife preservation and control for an
international mining concern. It is anticipated that the order will ship by
June 30, 2014.
Whether operated manually,
integrated into remote-controlled command and control centers or enhanced with
avian radar for automatic incursion response, LRAD systems have been shown to
effectively, safely and humanely keep birds and other wildlife away from
hazardous areas – preserving wildlife and protecting critical assets.
LRAD system use
directionality and focused acoustic output for wildlife applications, clearly
transmitting various tones, sounds and predator calls from 200 meters to more
than 2 kilometers away.
“We are very pleased that
the success of earlier installations has led an international mining concern to
expand their use of LRAD systems,” said LRAD President and CEO Tom Brown. “The
near infinite varieties of tones and sounds that can be recorded and broadcast
through our Long Range Acoustic Devices prevent birds from becoming habituated
to the repetitive noises produced by legacy wildlife control measures,
including propane cannons and cracker shells.”
