Sigma Designs, Inc. (SIGM) Technology Nets Comtrend Win

Sigma Designs announced that the Comtrend PG-9141s Powerline Single Port Adapter won the 2012 Communications Technologies Platinum Award in home networking, which was announced at the 2012 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando. This is significant because the PG-9141s contains Sigma technology, namely the HomePlug AV and ClearPath.

Sigma Design is focused on designing and building semiconductor technologies that are utilized in a wide array of consumer tech products, such as IPTV set-top boxes, DTV, connected media players, residential gateways, and home control systems.

Comtrend’s PG-9141s Power Adapter, containing Sigma Designs’ CG2210 HomePlug AV chipset with ClearPath technology, allows data transfer over the powerline at a PHY layer rate of up to 200 Mbps which is useful for home networking. It allows the use of all three wires in a powerline network to achieve extended coverage and higher throughputs to multiple points in a home network, even through surge protected power strips.
