Power-One, Inc. (PWER) Enters Alliance with China’s Phono Solar

Power-One is a leading provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions. The company is the world’s second largest designer and manufacturer of photovoltaic converters. Its renewable energy products enable the industry’s highest yielding conversion of power from solar arrays.

The company announced today that it has entered into a strategic alliance to market and sell photovoltaic systems worldwide with Phono Solar. That company is a division of the SUMEC Group in China and is a leading solar panel manufacturer and system developer. The two companies will sell photovoltaic systems globally using Power-One’s inverters and monitoring systems.

As part of the agreement, the companies will utilize their research and development resources for joint product development targeted to specific market needs. The firms will also work together as a preferred key equipment supplier for current and future large scale projects. Finally, the two companies, with their complementary product offerings, will be able to strengthen key aspects of their individual businesses such as marketing.

This is expected to be a very beneficial partnership. Power-One’s leadership position in renewable energy will be added to Phono Solar’s reach in the Asia Pacific region. Phono Solar’s parent – the SUMEC Group – will provide access to large photovoltaic projects in the region. In addition to China, the companies will focus on Australia, Japan, and other countries regionally with strong developing photovoltaic markets.
