China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group announced that the company has entered into an agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Under the terms of the agreement, CMGE gains the Chinese rights for two popular Disney mobile games.
CMGE is focused on developing, marketing, and distributing mobile games in China through its mobile game platform, offering single player and social gaming software for both feature phones and smartphones. The company also designs and markets mobile handsets, which allows the company to pre-install its games and gaming platform on the devices it produces.
The games in question, “Where’s My Water?” and “Temple Run: Brave,” have proven popular in the western market, both seeing success in Apple’s App Store following their release.
“Where’s My Water?” is a physics-based puzzle game, in the vein of Angry Birds, in which players must guide a stream of water to an alligator’s shower. “Temple Run: Brave” is a spinoff of the popular “Temple Run” series, featuring characters and settings from the Disney/Pixar film “Brave.” CMGE will release the games in November of 2012, both as internet downloads and via pre-installation on feature phones through CMGE’s Aiwan platform. CMGE and Disney will share the revenue generated from the games.
