Splunk, Inc. (SPLK) Forges Strategic Alliance with Cloudera to Unite Big Data Expertise and Provide Answers to Big Data Challenges

Splunk, provider of the leading software for real-time operational intelligence, and Cloudera, the category leader setting the standard for Apache Hadoop in the enterprise, announced a strategic alliance that will deliver big data analytics across the enterprise. The relationship will ensure best-in-class integration of Splunk Enterprise to Cloudera Enterprise through the use of Splunk Hadoop Connect, which provides bidirectional integration for the easy and reliable movement of data between Splunk Enterprise and Hadoop.

It is the aim of Splunk to make data accessible, usable, and valuable for all. Through their alliance, Splunk and Cloudera are able to deliver big data analytics to span the needs of any organization. Integrating Splunk Enterprise and CDH through Splunk Hadoop will enable customers to easily and reliably transfer data between the systems, allowing them to easily use Splunk’s machine data ingestion and management to deliver data to Hadoop – or ingest data into Splunk from Hadoop – and easily analyze and visualize the data.

Splunk and Cloudera represent an ideal combination for developing applications that accelerate the insight organizations are able to derive from big data. As more customers choose CDH as their Hadoop distribution, the relationship between the two entities enables them to bring big data solutions to a much wider range of end users.

Leading social application developer SNAP Interactive, Inc. (OTCBB: STVI) is a joint customer of Splunk and Cloudera. SNAP is the owner and operator of AYI, which is one of the Internet’s largest social dating applications. AYI users create a huge amount of machine-generated big data, with more than 20 million Facebook connected profiles and more than 1 billion interest data points to draw from.

“When your business is built on optimizing an interactive, multiplatform social experience for your customers, the ability to analyze massive amounts of data is essential to success,” said SNAP Interactive Architecture Team Lead Nicholas DiSanto. “For us, Splunk Enterprise and Cloudera are two technologies at the heart of our big data analytics. Splunk collects analytics data from all of our online systems, enabling both engineering and business users to perform ad hoc analysis and visualize important trends. This helps improve uptime and also enables complex analysis of customer engagement to facilitate our data -driven, scientific approach to making product decisions. Splunk Hadoop Connect seamlessly integrates with Cloudera CDH4.2, enabling data from Splunk to be reliably sent to Cloudera for specialized batch analytics that power many features on our site. Using Splunk and Cloudera has truly revolutionized how big data is used by our enterprise, and I look forward to gaining more value from these two technologies working closely together.”
