Kratos (KTOS) Provides Target Drones for First Patriot Missile Firing for Hellenic Air Defense Exercise at NATO Missile Firing Installation

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., a prominent provider of National Security Solutions, announced that its subsidiary, Composite Engineering Inc. (CEI), supported the Hellenic Air Defense Forces’ live fire exercises for the Patriot Weapon System on November 17, 2012, at the NATO Missile Firing Installation on the Greek Isle of Crete. Specifically, Kratos’ internationally utilized Firejet aerial target drone system served as a simulated advanced, aerial threat against the Joint Forces. The Firejet system was designed and produced by CEI.

During the exercises, Kratos’ Firjet target drone flew a precise and predetermined flight path, mimicking a possible real-world threat, and was tracked, engaged, and fired upon successfully by a Patriot Weapon System. In a letter of appreciation received by Kratos CEI and their local partner, ALTUS LSA, the NAMFI Commander said that “perfect cooperation and communication was achieved between all involved parties, a fact that illustrated that the companies CEI and ALTUS LSA are manned with highly trained and competent personnel and also the service provision on their behalf are of high standards.”

Designed and manufactured exclusively by Kratos’ CEI, the Firejet target system is the third generation of the company’s cutting edge, high-speed aerial target drone system. CEI is currently a supplier of high performance aerial target drones to the United States Air Force and United States Navy, and has expanded its services to including supporting missile-firing exercises with its impressive suite of aerial target systems.

Richard Selvaggio, President of Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Solution Division, said, “I am extremely proud of our CEI team and our FireJet aerial target drone systems performance in providing advanced threat representations in support of some of the world’s most advanced air and missile defense systems at one the world’s premier missile firing ranges. Kratos’ FireJet System is a key element in our strategy to be the premier global provider of aerial targets, which represent some of the the most lethal threats facing the United States and our Allies Armed Forces throughout the world.
