SunPower Corp. (SPWR) and Partner Deliver Solar Carports to Italian Market

SunPower designs, manufactures, and sells high-efficiency, highly reliable solar panels and systems. The company’s customers – power utilities, governments, businesses, and residential – rely on its quarter century of experience and proven track record to provide maximum return on their investments into solar power.

The company today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Italian firm Giulio Barbieri S.p.A. to design and manufacture an innovative solar carport, the new SunPower Carport, for the Italian residential market. Under terms of the agreement, Giulio Barbieri will deliver carports depending on the specifics for each client. SunPower’s local partners will then install the complete system, including the concrete bases, aluminum structure, solar panels, and inverters.

The SunPower Carport is available in four versions and can be installed in a number of configurations to accommodate either two or three cars. The flexible design incorporates 18, 24, or 32 of the company’s 95-cell high-efficiency solar panels, delivering roughly 5.9 kilowatts to 10.5 kilowatts, depending on the size of the system.

SunPower is already designing and installing commercial solar carports systems at schools and businesses across North America, so the move into the Italian residential market is a natural one, allowing homeowners there, with limited rooftop space, to power their homes with solar.
