China Automotive Systems, operating through ten Sino-foreign joint ventures, is a leading supplier of power steering components and systems to the Chinese automotive industry. The company offers a full range of steering system parts for both passenger and commercial vehicles. It offers four separate series of power steering with an annual production capacity of over four million sets of steering gears, columns hoses.
The company announced today that it has won the Chrysler 2013 Supplier of the Year Metallic Award. It was the sole winner in the Metallic category. The award recognizes outstanding achievement based on each firm’s “external balanced scorecard” that evaluates performance in quality, delivery, cost, warranty, and partnership with input from the Chrysler senior management.
China Automotive Systems has also won Chrysler awards in the past. It won the 2012 Chrysler China Regional Excellent Supplier award and Chrysler’s second place award for 2012 in the Global Metal Product Supplier category. The company previously won the 2011 Excellent Supplier Award for supplying power steering gears for installation into the Jeep Wrangler in North America beginning in 2008. China Automotive expanded its relationship with Chrysler in 2011 through supplying power steering products for its RAM pick-ups starting in 2012.
The awards won are the result of the company’s strategy to excel at designing, producing, and delivering high-quality steering systems globally and growing its relationship with Chrysler specifically. The firm expects overseas sales of its steering products to become a more significant contributor to its growth in the years ahead.
