Orbit International Corp. (ORBT) Receives an Order for Keyboards Valued at $665,000

Orbit International, a designer and manufacturer of subsystems and major components for prime contractors, government procurement agencies (both foreign and domestic), and R&D laboratories worldwide, announced that, through its Orbit Instrument Division, Orbit’s Electronics Group received an order for keyboards to be utilized by the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) for its air traffic control systems. The order is valued at approximately $665,000, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013 and continue through the first quarter of 2014.

The FAA intends to modernize the technology included in its air traffic control systems at every major airport in the United States by instituting its Terminal Automation Modernization and Replacement (TAMR) program. This initiative stipulates the combining and upgrading of multiple air traffic control technologies into a unified state-of-the-art platform, STARS. The synergy between the TAMR program and STARS platform will deliver significantly increased safety and efficiency within the National Airspace System. Orbit’s keyboards have a critical position in the state-of-the-art replacement program for the FAA in the safe handling of commercial aviation terminal airspace.

Mitchell Binder, President and CEO of Orbit, commented, “STARS has been a significant program for Orbit resulting in total orders valued at approximately $2.4 million since March 2012. This recent order is one of several follow-on orders that we expected to receive before 2012 year-end but was delayed due to budget concerns. Despite these delays, we believe that our legacy business remains intact. As indicated by our customer, we anticipate additional follow-on orders for our FAA keyboards through 2017.”

Orbit International, through its Electronics Group, is involved in the manufacture of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications through its production facilities in Hauppauge, New York, and Quakertown, Pennsylvania; and designs and manufactures combat systems and gun weapons systems, provides system integration and integrated logistics support and documentation control at its facilities in Louisville, Kentucky. The Power Group, through its Behlman Electronics, Inc. subsidiary, manufactures and sells high quality commercial power units, AC power sources, frequency converters, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated analytical equipment. The Behlman COTS division designs, manufactures, and sells power units and electronic products for measurement and display.
