I.D. Systems (IDSY) Receives Contract to Deploy PowerFleet Wireless Vehicle Management System for U.S. Marine Corps

I.D. Systems announced it has been awarded a contract from the National Center for Manufacturing Services (NCMS) to deploy its PowerFleet Wireless Vehicle Management System (VMS) on a material-handling equipment fleet at an Albany, Ga., U.S. Marine Corps facility. This is the second contract I.D. Systems has executed in the past month with NCMS to deploy its system at a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) facility. The two contracts are valued at more than $400,000 in total.

A nonprofit organization, NCMS is funded in part by the DoD. NCMS forms partnerships between the DoD and private industry under the Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) program and also facilitates development, deployment and validation of innovative commercial technologies that provide operational benefits and cost savings for DoD maintenance activities.

“Our mission is to identify and implement best-practice commercial technologies for DoD applications,” said NCMS President and CEO Rick Jarman. “I.D. Systems’ ability to provide flexible technical solutions to meet the needs of different sites has been critical to help us introduce the operational benefits of wireless industrial vehicle management to the DoD.”

The PowerFleet system being deployed by I.D. Systems at the Marine Corps facility is based on cellular communications and remote housing technology, enabling the Marine Corps to take advantage of full system functionality without increasing the site’s existing wireless network traffic or necessitating ongoing support from the site’s information technology resources.
