LoJack announced today that its Law Enforcement Liaison, Peter Perrien, has been named as the 62nd president of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI). Perrien’s election was announced at the Annual IAATI Training Seminar in Rimini, Italy. He will head the group that includes experienced professionals from law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, manufacturers and rental car companies, as well as members of the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
The IAATI is an organization of almost 4,000 volunteers who combine resources and training to improve communication and coordination between auto theft investigators around the world. LoJack, a provider of vehicle theft recovery systems, took time to congratulate their liaison on his new role.
“We are thrilled that Peter has been named IAATI’s next president,” said Patrick Clancy, Vice President of LoJack’s Law Enforcement Department. “Peter’s extensive career in law enforcement, specifically leading auto theft investigations, embodies everything that IAATI stands for. He is a tremendous selection to lead the organization for the foreseeable future.”
Perrien began his career with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) as a patrol officer in 1972. In the following decades, Perrien served as an intelligence detective for the white collar/organized crime unit and also as a technology detective for the FBI and NOPD Public Integrity Special Operations unit. Perrien has been a member of the IAATI board since 2006. He will continue to serve as a LoJack Law Enforcement Liaison in Louisiana as he has for the last 13 years.
“We see millions of dollars in assets lost each year due to vehicle theft and the only way to combat it is through education, training and collaboration,” said Perrien. “My goal, and the goal for IAATI, is to keep training and educating to let the police know who we are and what we are about.”
“Peter is a dedicated member of IAATI and as such, a perfect choice for the next president,” said John O’Byrne, IAATI’s 61st president. “Peter and I have known each other for years and his track record in law enforcement and auto theft speaks for itself. I have no doubt that he will continue to serve the organization in an outstanding capacity, just as he has done in the past serving as vice president.”
