Leading provider of cloud and premises-based unified communications software solutions, Mitel®, has expanded its sales management team with the recruitment of Steve Kelly to oversee and lead the global sales team of which is currently dedicated to Mitel’s cloud offerings, including the Powered by Mitel wholesale offering for service providers. Several Mitel partners have already signed on to use Powered by Mitel solutions as the underlying technology for their cloud services offerings. This includes Black Box, RackForce, and Windstream.
“We continue to see strong growth and significant demand for cloud-based solutions with more than 300,000 public and private cloud users on the Mitel solution to date, up 71 percent over last year,” commented General Manager of Mitel’s cloud business, Jon Brinton. “To take full advantage of this opportunity, we’ve built a dedicated and global MiCloud sales team under the strategic direction of Steve Kelly to further fuel and accelerate growth in this area.”
With over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including wholesale, enterprise, and mobile solutions, Kelly will be joining Mitel from BT where he served as vice president of international sales for wholesale services. In his new role as Mitel director of sales, Kelly and his team will drive MiCloud sales worldwide.
“Mitel has an extremely strong value proposition that offers a simple but sophisticated path to the cloud,” states Kelly. “Our single software stream is ideal for service providers looking to enter the cloud services market, and for organizations simply looking to leverage the benefits of cloud communications for their business operations. I’m excited to be able to share that story with partners and customers globally.”
Mitel has consistently expanded its sales leadership over the past six months as it aggressively positions itself for market share and revenue growth. Joe Vitalone, executive vice president of sales for the Americas, joined Mitel from ShoreTel last spring, and has since continued to improve the senior sales team with the addition of Tim Gaines, who now sits as Mitel’s vice president of sales for the U.S. and CALA. Another new addition added by Vitalone is Sandra Hill from LifeSize, who was recruited to the position of vice president of channel management and distribution for the U.S. and CALA. With a strong focus on accelerating Mitel’s cloud footprint, Kelly and his MiCloud sales team are fully integrated with the Mitel sales team.
