Canadian Solar, Inc. is a leading, vertically integrated provider of ingot, wafer, solar cell, solar module, and solar applications. The company designs, manufactures, and delivers a wide range of solar products and environmentally-friendly system solutions for on-grid and off-grid use to customers around the world.
Canadian Solar today reported that the company, together with HelioPower and Giumarra Vineyards, has successfully completed a 516 kilowatt dc commercial photovoltaic system in Bakersfield, California. Canadian Solar’s high-performing photovoltaic modules and HelioPower’s integrated turnkey energy solutions enabled Guimarra Vineyards to complete the initial phase of its clean energy initiative. In total, the facility will use 2,296 of Canadian Solar’s 225P modules to power the vineyard’s main production and cold storage facility.
Another key to the completion of the initial phase of the project was HelioPower’s predictive analytic and load profiling tools which identified demand-side energy reduction and distributed generation strategies to reduce Giumarra’s cost of energy. HelioPower provided design, engineering, construction and utility commissioning for the 516 kilowatt ground mounted agricultural solar installation. The project was commissioned in September 2011 and came in both on time and within budget.
This project is right in line with Canadian Solar’s goal of providing premium quality, cost-effective, environmentally friendly solutions to support sustainable development. It also gave the company exposure in the fast-growing usage of solar power in the agricultural sector.
