Cardium Therapeutics, Inc. (CXM) Targets Millennial Generation with MedPodium Supplements


Cardium Therapeutics is a health sciences and regenerative medicine company whose focus is on the acquisition and development of innovative products with the potential to address significant unmet medical needs. The first of its revenue-generating product lines is the inexpensive MedPodium Nutra-Apps lifestyle brand, which is targeted at 20-35 year old consumers (Millennials). Neo-Energy contains 225 milligrams of caffeine anhydrous, niacin, and green tea extract in capsule form which sets it apart from all the numerous liquid energy drinks on the market. The company’s research found that 58% of Millennials look for energy supplements up to three times a week to help them get through a day’s busy schedule.

Neo-Carb Block contains a chromium and white kidney bean extract which promises to neutralize the starch found in many of the carb-rich foods commonly available. Studies have shown that it blocks 58% of the carbs consumers eat after taking just one capsule before the meal. This is unlike other supplements which must be taken on a daily basis to be effective.

The newest product from Cardium is Neo-Chill for relaxation. It helps to “reduce stress, support relaxation, and help focus and calm the mind”. It is different from other products in the growing relaxation category because it does not cause drowsiness. These other competing products combine herbals with melatonin, a sleep-causing ingredient. Neo-Chill contains 200 milligrams of suntheanine, a clinically-tested, proprietary L-theanine amino acid that keeps the mind alert.

Cardium plans to expand the revenues generated by these products throughout the year by several methods. First, it intends to bring out more products such as Neo-Sleep which will help people fall asleep. In the fourth quarter of 2012, the company also plans to launch an aggressive social media and digital marketing plan. It will expand its presence on Facebook and place numerous ads on websites where Millennials “hang out” such as Shape Magazine, Men’s Fitness, and celebrity gossip publications, promoting the value and effectiveness of their products.
