With all of the talk about waning oil and energy resources, it’s easy to forget that perhaps the greatest resource crisis facing the world centers around water. With dramatically shrinking glaciers and falling ground water levels, the critical need for clean water could soon take center stage as the resource topic of the century. One of the greatest pressures on dwindling fresh water supplies is contamination, including chemical, biological, and radiological contamination. With growing worldwide industrialization, water contamination is exploding just at the time that water resources are shrinking. Sionix recognizes the fast approaching global fresh water crisis, but also sees it as an opportunity, and has managed to develop a one-of-a-kind water treatment technology to take advantage of it.
Sun and air are the two most important approaches to the successful treatment of contaminated water. The Sionix technology focuses on air, maximizing its treatment efficiency with a patented and proprietary Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) process. Based upon years of research and development, Sionix has developed a way to use micro-bubbles of air, only 1 or 2 microns in size, to treat water to a degree never before possible. Traditional air treatment involves bubbles of sizes 50 microns or larger, giants when compared to the Sionix micro-bubbles and far less effective. The tiny Sionix bubbles, injected into all sorts of contaminated water, have an almost miraculous ability to latch on to all types of contaminates, floating them to the surface where they can be skimmed off at an unprecedented 99.95% level of removal.
It’s an amazing system that can be used to remove both organic and inorganic compounds, including hydrocarbons, insoluble metals, infectious bacteria, algae, and even color. Industrial applications include dairy and meat processing, mining, poultry and other agribusiness, virtually any industry that uses water. The cost effective, mobile, and easy to maintain Sionix system is also designed for use in energy, government facilities, healthcare facilities, emergency water supplies, housing development projects, and even as pre-treatment for desalination and other membrane filtration applications.
