American DG Energy Inc. (ADGE) to Handle Total Plant Conversion for Hilton DoubleTree in Times Square

American DG Energy, which has devised a superb business model based around on-site clean energy generation (On-Site Utility) and a zero-capital implementation, announced another win today as agreements have been reached with Sunstone Hotel Investors Incorporated to handle the conversion and install work needed to execute an exceptionally clean generation/CHP system (combined heat and power, also called also called cogeneration or distributed generation) for the only all-suite hotel smack in the heart of Broadway, the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton New York City – Times Square (460 two-room suites).

This is a high profile plant conversion and new hardware install job that will feature a 200 kW CHP system, in addition to the five boiler (2 million BTU’s each) generation core, based on natural gas and equipped with two 500-ton chillers. The quality of the feasibility study done by ADGE was key to their selection and these agreements should bring in some $1.3M in revenues this year for the company, as well as saving the DoubleTree Suites what are anticipated to be significant energy outlays for what is an extremely popular, high-occupancy property.

Not only will this conversion/install free the location of dependence on electricity and utility steam, the enhanced performance characteristics will also improve guest comfort while offsetting some 2.2k tons or more of carbon annually, bringing down energy costs and environmental impact simultaneously. ADGE will also provide maintenance for the CHP system as per their usual service envelope and will supply the key technical oversight needed to get the overall hardware implementation right, taking the conversion/install job from feasibility through to engineering and operations.

This is a good deal for ADGE’s reputation within the industry in general and Sunstone Hotel Investors (enterprise value of approximately $3.8B), which has interests in 29 hotels (over 13.7k rooms) in all, is a very promising relationship for the company to be cultivating. Senior VP of Design and Construction for Sunstone Hotel Investors, W. Guy Lindsey, praised the On-Site Utility model ADGE has developed for hardware efficiency, as well as making the decision to upgrade an easy one, considering the fact that all the hotel has to really do is buy the energy. This lightweight, easy choice model has proven to be extremely successful for ADGE when it comes to landing new customers and investors should check out how attractive this solution set is for a wide variety of businesses like hotels and other hospitality or housing outfits, as well as operations like athletic facilities and healthcare centers.
