Meru Networks, Inc. (MERU) Announces Deployment of Meru Education-Grade (MEG™) Wireless Solution at Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College

Meru Networks, a prominent player in Wi-Fi networking, announced that it has deployed a campus-wide wireless solution at Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College to facilitate the rapid growth of mobile devices and application traffic. College IT leaders have stated that consistent and pervasive Wi-Fi is a business decision to empower student success, attract partnerships, and engage the public.

This deployment traverses Kingsborough’s entire 77-acre campus, featuring 197 common areas of 19 buildings, two theatres, a marina, a private beach, several baseball diamonds, and miles of trails and walkways. This massive system consists of two Meru MC4200 controllers and approximately 600 access points, and includes Meru’s industry leading guest access solution, Identity Manager, Meru’s E(z)RF® Network Manager, and Meru Spectrum Manager.

Meru’s MEG solution was designed specifically to address the BYOD issues encountered by colleges and universities, as well as support their uninterrupted learning applications. MEG focuses on performing in three primary areas: speedy BYOD provisioning and secure wireless access mapped to IT policies, connecting to all BYOD devices reliably anywhere on campus, and by deploying validated learning and teaching applications on BYOD devices over the MEG wireless platform.

Kingsborough offers a vast array of courses in the liberal arts, and was named one of the top community colleges in the country by The New York Times.
