Methes Energies International Ltd. (MEIL) Builds Reputation for Innovative Biodiesel Technology, Powerful Client Support

Methes Energies founders John Loewen and Nicholas Ng once shared a vision to find a small-scale solution to commercially produce biodiesel, and more than 10 years ago set out to find equipment capable of fitting this bill. During their explorative world travels, Loewen and Ng found higher or lower end technologies, but recognized an unmet in the biodiesel industry that they later would fill with the Denami 600 and Denami 3000 processors. The fully automated biodiesel processor units have proven to be a reliable and cost-effective way to produce up to 6.5M gallons of biodiesel a year using a variety of feedstock.

Since its founding in 2004, Methes has emerged as a respected player in the biodiesel industry, known as much for its strong business model as it is the processor technology. The company likens its client services to that of the support provided in the fast food business by the franchisor.

From purchase, implementation to follow-up, Methes is involved in all steps of the transaction, including the sale of its clients’ biodiesel production. The company’s processors are supported by a full-time remote monitoring system through which Methes remotely monitors the quality and characteristics of its clients’ production, upgrades and repairs their processors, and advises on adjustments to maximize the quality of their biodiesel.

Methes markets and sells biodiesel fuel produced at its showcase production facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and at its 13 MGY facility in Sombra, Ontario, to customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Most recently, Methes received a deposit from Antilla Energy VBA (formally known as BioFuel Aruba) to start the manufacturing process of one Denami 600 to be delivered to Aruba in September 2014. Antilla, a national company focused on developing and implementing island-based biodiesel projects, plans to use locally collected waste cooking oil to produce biodiesel that will then be blended with diesel fuel and distributed to clients across the island.
