ZBB Energy Corp. (ZBB) Signs Agreement to Supply 2,000 kWh EnerStore System for Resort in Polynesia

ZBB Energy develops, designs, and manufactures advanced energy storage, power electronic systems, and engineered custom and semi-custom products aimed at the growing global need for distributed renewable energy, energy efficiency, power quality, and grid modernization.

The company announced today that it has signed an agreement to supply its 2,000 kilowatt ZBB EnerStore System, including 40 ZBB EnerStore modules, for the luxury eco-resort The Brando Project in French Polynesia. This eco-resort is designed to be first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certified destination resort in the world as a new construction and in the campus category.

The resort’s electrical supply will include a mix of renewable energy sources, including an 896 kilowatt array of photovoltaic (PV) panels and generators that use sustainable biofuels made from locally sourced coconut oil. ZBB’s technology allows the resort to significantly minimize the amount of fuel consumed by utilizing generators for back-up purposes only when stored PV energy is not sufficient enough to meet overnight demand.

The system is scheduled to be fully operational in 2013. In terms of storage size and dollar value, this project represents the largest island microgrid contract to date to ZBB. For additional information about ZBB Energy and its products, please visit www.zbbenergy.com.

Power-One, Inc. (PWER) Announces Release of High Efficiency Power Supplies with Integrated Battery Back-Up Circuit

Power-One, a prominent supplier of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, announced the release of their 450W and 700W High Efficiency Power Supply/Battery Back-up units to be used with cutting edge, high efficiency servers and data centers. Open Compute Project specifications were used in the design of the Power-One power supplies, SPAFCBK-02G (450W) and SPAFCBK-03G (700W).

The power supplies merge a 450W or 700W Platinum Efficiency rated AC-DC power supply with a 48Vdc battery back-up circuit, giving the two products an all-in-one compact design. Both versions boast an efficiency of over 94% and have achieved 80-Plus Platinum level efficiency certification. Each unit utilizes a 277Vac input voltage source which allows the server to be powered directly from one phase of the high voltage 3-phase input power distribution network. By implementing the Open Compute Project specifications throughout the design process of the power supply for 277Vac, the need for an expensive site transformer was eliminated.

The impressive efficiency of the power supplies means that much less energy is wasted within the server and less energy is used in the overall cooling infrastructure. The integrated 48V battery back-up circuit allows for a localized, scalable power back-up infrastructure and eliminates the need for inefficient UPS systems.

“This was a very technically challenging product due to the high efficiency target and the complexity of the power supply/battery back-up design. The power supply is a crucial building block for the next generation of highly efficient servers and data centers. Power-One was the first in the industry to release such a product and we have followed that lead with these latest power supply offerings,” said Helio Sakaya, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Power-One.

ClearOne Communications, Inc. (CLRO) Teams Up with Top Domestic Tech Distributor D&H

ClearOne Communications, long known throughout the industry for their comprehensive suite of video conferencing, streaming communications, and digital signage products/solutions, reported a major collaboration today with top U.S. IT/electronics distributor and provider of total end-to-end solutions for a wide range of small-to-medium business/consumer markets, D&H Distributing Co.

Realized in the form of a distribution agreement whereby D&H will begin distributing CLRO’s new software-based COLLABORATE™ video conferencing solution to authorized resellers/retailer (in addition to their analog, USB, and VoIP conference phones), this deal between the two companies constitutes a mutually beneficial, symbiotic relationship. A relationship which is particularly good for CLRO in terms of how it opens up vast new channels for their extremely robust conferencing framework COLLABORATE, which gives users a powerful, standalone engine for handling desktop video, infrastructure, management, and room systems. COLLABORATE was designed from the ground up to be the ultimate collaboration environment, allowing users to share desktop, files, windows, and even regions, providing a detachable data window alongside the latest H.264 high-def video.

VP of Sales, Unified Communications for CLRO, Chris Wildfoerster, characterized the deal as a marriage made in heaven, considering how the “competitively priced, innovative audio and video collaboration solutions” that ClearOne has to offer hit the sweet spot with D&H’s clientele, resulting in significant upside for D&H (not to mention CLRO shareholders). We have a huge market of established distribution vectors crying out for a precisely this kind of suite solution to their a/v collaboration demands, demands which have grown more and more pressing as the walls have come down technologically for this level of communication (the vital life’s blood of any business), and we have CLRO standing in the gap with a full-spectrum solution that features an intuitive UI and easy to use hardware.

COLLABORATE harnesses the power of CLRO’s industry-leading audio capabilities and high-def streaming video technology and applies it to a network spanning open desktop framework that really lets people get the job done fast. The level of functionality one person can assert over the massive network of systems, all within a totally unhindered communication space, offers customers a virtual office solution whose appeal should be readily apparent to even the most antiquated of investors.

Legacy audio processing quality meets USB-powered convenience with CLRO’s unified communication products, including CHAT® speakerphone and headset gear, and the MAX® line of tabletop conferences phones, like their MAX IP (SIP-based) and MAX EX (full-duplex audio and maximum expansion capability). With products that can handle everything from analog to VoIP, CLRO is able to offer enterprise-class, one-stop-shop solutions that really allow a business to get the most out of personnel interaction.

With an impressive 94-year track record in the industry and such accolades as being named Worldwide Small Business Distributor of the Year by industry giant Cisco in 2010, and an impressive seven-year consecutive run receiving the Microsoft Licensing Operational Excellence Award (also Microsoft OEM Distributor of the Year), D&H is a big win for CLRO as a partner and shareholders can expect some exciting news from the deal in coming months.

VP of Purchasing for D&H, Rob Eby, cited the crucial nature of the Videoconferencing and VoIP segment to D&H’s overall revenue, underscoring the potential for further growth in these areas that comes along with the addition of CLRO’s awesome product portfolio. Eby raved about the quality and scalability of ClearOne’s software/hardware solutions, emphasizing how the easy to approach and well designed setups appeal directly to the demands of this “high-potential category.”

iBio, Inc. (IBIO) R&D Collaborator Awarded Contract from the National Institute of Health

iBio develops and offers product applications of its proprietary iBioLaunch and iBioModulator platforms, providing collaborators full support for turn-key implementation of its technology for both proprietary and biosimilar products.

The iBioLaunch platform is technology for the development and production of biologics using transient gene expression in unmodified green plants. The iBioModulator is complementary to iBioLaunch and enables significantly improved vaccine products with higher potency and greater duration of effect.

The company announced today that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (part of the National Institute of Health) has awarded a contract to one of iBio’s collaborators, the Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biotechnology. The contract was awarded for a new generation anthrax vaccine to be developed with the iBioLaunch platform under a research license from iBio. The first year of funding will be $1.76 million with a total contract amount of up to $9.9 million, depending on the exercise of contract options.

In October 2012, the company received a patent covering compositions of matter and methods of producing anthrax vaccines. This added to iBio’s portfolio of assets relevant to bio-defense and infectious disease product applications. Previous data published in peer-reviewed scientific journals demonstrated the effectiveness of the iBioLaunch platform for development and production of vaccine candidates for both viral and bacterial pathogens.
